Bio
An Verelst obtained her first master as a clinical psychologist (child, adolescent and family) at the Catholic University of Leuven in 2008. With a dissertation on the traditional and modern psychotrauma care in the post-conflict setting of Northern Uganda she finished the Master after Master programme on Cultures and Development at the Catholic University of Leuven. Since February 2010 she works at the Department of Orthopedagogics at Ghent University. There she works as a doctoral researcher studying the psychosocial well being of minor victims of sexual violence. For CCVS she supervises the project and team of CCVS RDC in Eastern Congo (Bunia, Ituri) where a psychosocial support centre offers sensitization, training and psychological counseling to Eastern Congolese children and adolescents and their environments.
